The Petroleum Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa (Pty) Ltd (PetroSA) owns, operates and manages the South African Government's commercial assets in the petroleum industry. Its focus is international with specific emphasis on the African continent.

The core business of PetroSA is

• the exploration and production of oil and natural gas off the southern coasts of South Africa
• participation in and acquistion of local as well as international upstream petroleum ventures
• the production and marketing of synthetic fuels produced from offshore gas at the world's largest commercial gas-to-liquid (GTL) plant at Mossel Bay in the Western Cape Province
• oil and petrochemicals trading, and
• crude oil storage.

PetroSA plans to diversify into other associated petroleum industry activities such as pipeline transmission services and GTL technology development and marketing.

PetroSA DIVISIONS

EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION
PetroSA's Exploration and Production Division, based in Cape Town, is responsible for oil and gas exploration and production as well as the development and management of a portfolio of oil and Gas Reserves for the corporation.

GAS-TO-LIQUIDS (GTL) MANUFACTURING
PetroSa is a pioneer in the field of GTL production and through its Manufacturing Division operates the world's largest gas-to-liquids plant on a 770 ha site at Mossel Bay, a coastal town 400 km west of Cape Town.

TRADING, SUPPLY AND LOGISTICS
PetroSA trades in gas, condensate, crude oil and fuel and petrochemical products through its Trading, Supply and Logistics Divisions. The Division markets the plant's products on the South African and international markets, and procures condensate as feedstock for the Mossel Bay plant. It also trades in crude oil on behalf of the Soth African Government, whose strategic oil stocks it manages.
